Renaissance World Golf Village Resort

5th Annual Florida Higher Education Summit

Greetings —

Your FACRAO Executive Committee and the Summit Planning Committee are currently working on the 5th Annual Florida Higher Education Summit! We are excited to be returning to the Renaissance World Golf Village Resort in St. Augustine from June 1-6, 2013.

The Summit Overview which includes the tentative conference schedule is available on our website, as is pricing for both the conference and the hotel. Are you away from your office? Then visit our new Mobile Event Hub.

Now that the basics are covered, we will start working on the development of sessions – look for the Call for Sessions to start coming your way after the new year!

As educators we know that service is an important concept to develop within ourselves and in our students. As you are thinking about offering a session, and I know you are, think about how service can be found in our daily lives and how we can incorporate that into our professional lives and into our students’ lives. We look forward to seeing what you have to offer!

Our fall semesters are nearing their end and we will shortly begin our holiday season. From everyone on the Executive Committee and our Summit Planning committee, we wish you a smooth end of semester and a very happy holiday season! We will be back with an update after the new year!

At your service,

Karen J. Beckett
President, FACRAO

5th Annual Florida Higher Education Summit Call for Presenters

Dear FACRAO Member,

Your colleagues around the state are eager to hear about your innovations and operational achievements this year!

FACRAO is calling for presentations for the 2013 Higher Education Summit and we are seeking your presentation proposals and ideas about emerging topics that will engage and challenge our assembly this year.

Presentations can be general to appeal to all attendees or be specific to admissions, registration, public four-year, public two-year or private institutions. We also are seeking proposals for emerging or specialized programs such as those with a professional or graduate focus. Sessions are scheduled for one hour and are listed in the preliminary program as FACRAO Concurrent sessions. Please complete the Presentation Proposal for consideration and submit by email to: hkicklit@usfsp.edu or Barbara@ucf.edu.

This annual Summit pairs the best of the past with some calendar change ups – a result of feedback from the membership. It again joins FACRAO with our colleagues in the Florida College System (FCRAO), the State University System (SUS) Data Administrators and the Florida Department of Education. New this year, the Summit is June 1-6 in St. Augustine, with FISEM sessions on Saturday, and the FACRAO and FCRAO sessions beginning Sunday afternoon and ending midday Tuesday.

The Summit represents careful planning from your colleagues around the state to offer training, professional development and state and federal updates for Florida higher education professionals. The conference structure includes change-ups this year based on feedback we received from colleagues to include the Florida Institute for Strategic Enrollment Management workshop on Saturday that is geared toward new professionals in the field of Enrollment Management, as well as plenary sessions to address current higher education issues, the Institutional Research and Facilities meetings and, of course, the SUS DATA Workshop on Thursday.

In addition to presenters we are seeking volunteers for the Summit. If you are able to volunteer, please contact me for details. On behalf of the FACRAO Executive and Programming committees, thank you for your ideas and your active participation.

Best Regards,

Holly Kickliter
VP Professional Development, FACRAO
