Registration for the June 2020 Higher Education Summit Opens

A letter from the Executive Committee

On behalf of the FACRAO Executive Committee, we wanted to share with you how your state professional association is responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19) in relation to the upcoming 12th Annual Florida Higher Education Summit and FACRAO Conference.

While there is a lot of uncertainty around what the impact of this outbreak might be, at this point, our intent is to hold the Higher Education Summit as planned. The end of June is a long time from now, but we absolutely understand the apprehension in making plans that far ahead. The Executive Committee wanted to take the opportunity, along with this announcement of the opening of registration, to assure you that should we be compelled to cancel the event, we will provide a full refund of the registration fees.

We recognize that coronavirus has impacted many of our member organizations. Many colleges and universities have moved their classes online and restricted domestic and international travel as well as engagement at large events, and some have asked their employees to work from home. Whereas not all our members work in high-risk areas, we want to emphasize our commitment to the safety and well-being of our community.

The 12th Annual Higher Florida Education Summit, scheduled for June 21-25th, in Daytona Beach, promises to be yet another excellent opportunity to gather, learn, share, and celebrate, but we need to ensure that we support our community and each other by taking sensible and appropriate action to make our time together successful. We are closely monitoring the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for guidance. As of now, the CDC has not issued guidance limiting domestic travel or public gatherings, but we will continue to monitor the CDC and other credible sources and will keep you apprised.

In short - if you plan to attend FACRAO and/or FCRAO this year, you may feel free to register and be confident that we will provide a full refund of registration fees to anyone who must cancel their paid registration due to illness or travel restrictions implemented by their institution.

Nothing is more important than the health and safety of our attendees, partners, and volunteers, and we will continue to communicate with you all as things develop and we get closer to the event.

Sincerely,

The FACRAO Executive Committee
