You won’t want to miss the opening session, “It's The End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) R.E.M.”

The pandemic has rocked our world of work like nothing ever has before. So many changes in so many areas at a pace that had us reeling and weary. ln the face of all these challenges, we continually stepped up and tapped reservoirs of resilience that we did not know we had. As we look forward to a post pandemic future, which of the forced innovations should stay and which should go? Our speaker shares his reflections on the past year and his vision of a bright future of increased access, equity, and happiness. There is no going back to the world we knew, and we’ll all be fine!

John Barnhill

John Barnhill, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at Florida State University, is responsible for the Offices of Admission, Financial Aid, and the Registrar. During his forty-three years at Florida State, he has overseen impressive gains in size, quality, and diversity. He has also been instrumental in dramatic increases in retention and graduation rates. Over the years, Barnhill has been a frequent presenter at professional conferences and he has served in many leadership capacities in regional and national organizations, including SACAC, NACAC, SACRAO and AACRAO. He is currently chair of the national Counseling and Admissions Assembly Council of the College Board and a College Board trustee.

Tim Amyx, AACRAO Board of Directors
You won’t want to miss this year’s plenary speaker and annual business meeting. This year’s summit will commence with updates from Tim Amyx, AACRAO Board of Directors. Tim will touch on recent happenings at and offerings from the association, to include the new AACRAO Strategic Plan and planning process, as well as hot topics related to current events in Congress.

Tim Amyx is currently serving as the Director of Admissions and College Registrar at Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, TN where he has worked for the past 21 years. Tim currently serves on the American Associationof Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers Board of Directors as one of the two Vice Presidents at Large. He is the current chair of the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee and is the Board sponsor for the Member Engagement Committee as well as the Mentoring Workgroup. He is a past president of the Tennessee Association of Colligate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and served as the Local Arrangements Chair on the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers for the meeting in Chattanooga, TN. Tim earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Austin Peay State University and his Master of Education in Student Personnel in Higher Education from the University of Florida. He lives just north of Nashville, TN with his wife of 25 years, Kelly, and their black lab, Decker.
